Brittany Goodwyn

Brittany Nicole Goodwyn is a 20 year old rising junior at a University in Virginia. Majoring in History and Social Science, she plans to become a middle or high school history teacher.  She believes that "Education is the key that can unlock any door".  Brittany has been involved with many community service projects since an early age.  She won three Virginia State Community Service Awards and has been recognized by her community for her dedication in helping others.  She had the first youth team for the Relay for Life when she was only 10 years old.  Community service is more than a "platform" for Brittany, it is a way of life.  After a breast cancer scare when she was only 16, Brittany discovered Y-ME National Breast Cancer Organization.  Y-ME offers services to survivors and their families such as a 24/7 hot line managed by breast cancer survivors.

She has dedicated the last few years to that organization which helped her and her family through a very trying time.  This year she served as co-chairman for the family teams committee for the Washington D.C Mid-Atlantic Mother's Day Walk to Empower.  Many trips to D.C. and a lot of hard work and dedication paid off as the Walk was a huge success raising over 250,000.00 for the Y-ME Organization.  Brittany raised over $2,000.00 herself while co-chairing the event.  Brittany enjoys fashion, modeling, admits to being a "shopaholic", scrapbooking, NASCAR, and is an avid Atlanta Braves fan.
